The star has donated the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to save the UK's small concert spaces.

Fender was given the award on mid-October as his third album People Watching was declared the top album of the past year.

Fender has decided to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the essential function local spots had in his initial steps.

"As an artist would not have achieved what I am doing today if it weren't for all the gigs I played around the area, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," said the artist. "These spaces are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these venues have shut down – about one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, major artists including the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a modest fee to their ticket costs, which supports smaller concert halls.

Fender also took part, generating over £100k on his recent tour to assist numerous local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money assisted spaces that were confronting possible closure due to issues caused by flooding, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Other venues obtained funding support in upgrading facilities and gear that directly benefitted artists and fans.

"The idea that revenue from performances in large arenas supports the local stages, where it begins for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has stated.

He is not the first artist to contribute his award funds to worthy causes.

Back when the band received the trophy in 1996 for their record the album, vocalist the singer declared that the act would contribute their prize money to the charity the charity.

That year, artist Ms Dynamite shared her prize across a few charities, such as the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I gave a grand to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was growing up and they needed updated gear," Ms Dynamite explained to the media.

In recent years, the band donated their winnings to the community center that developed their act, in addition to other local music groups.

And winners that year they gave their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was identified with the illness.

"The victory was ample," remarked artist the singer. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the main prize. So our winning impacted the lives of others."

In the past week, the trust announced it had protected several small stages in that region, by bringing them into community ownership.

The Joiners in Southampton and the second in that location were acquired under the Own Our Venues scheme, which is supported by a national body and enthusiasts who acquire "shares" in the venues.
