Vinted Shoppers Express Anger About Sizing Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.

The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.

Sizing System Updates

Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Stories

One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
